After viewing Notre Dame Cathedral we found a beautiful garden behind it - see below a picture of the tulips in bloom and the famous flying buttresses of the cathedral. We crossed the bridge Pont de L'Archeveche, known for couples that have professed their love by inscribing their names or initials on a lock, attaching it to the bridge and then throwing the key into the Seine river below. There are a few bridges in Paris with locks and - as you can see in the second picture below - this is one of the most popular.
We grabbed a quick bite - including a tortilla and goat cheese sandwich and our first french crepes, yum! - and hurried to the Eiffel Tower for our 4:00 p.m. tickets. What luck that it was a beautiful day - behold the striking Eiffel Tower:
Okay, I may not have found a gato frances yet, but I found a PATO frances at the Eiffel Tower!
Christine and Cari at the Eiffel Tower...the photo is a funny shape because I had to crop out a couple posing for their photo next to us...
After the Eiffel Tower we crossed the river and took a boat cruise down the Seine. Again, we were so lucky that the weather held out and the ride was beautiful and relaxing.
After the river cruise we walked back to the Eiffel Tower to wait for the nighttime light show. On the way we passed by the Musee du Quai Orly with its incredible vertical garden covering the building. It was definitely on my list of things to see, so it was a pleasant surprise...
Once night fell we took a few more pictures of the Eiffel Tower and then watched the twinkling light show they put on every hour for 5 minutes - it was definitely worth the wait.
